Dell Latitude D620 Laptop Review
The Dell Latitude D620 is a portable 14-inch widescreen business equipped with the latest Intel Core Duo. The D620 replaces the D610 and provides a full overhaul of design changes at once and the internal components. The new industrial charcoal gray and black look of the D620 expresses its solid construction, which Dell calls "Road Ready" and with a slew of available built-in wireless communications this notebook is road ready in more than one.
Design and Build
The D620 is the most interesting in that it adopts a widescreen format, a function that date to the present was actually pushed over in the channel of consumer laptops. Dell believes that the types companies prefer this format too well. After all, a big screen (available in WXGA and WXGA + resolution) does not allow you to more easily have two the other side windows open at once. Side-by-side comparison of documents, web pages or spreadsheets is an example of common business tasks done more easily on a large screen.
Aesthetically the D620 looks nice and professional. It is mostly a dark charcoal gray (almost black) inside with silver accents and silver cover. This provides an industrial look and muscular, quite the opposite the light gray and white design of the Dell Inspiron line of laptops. All new Latitude laptops (D420, D620 and Dell Latitude D800 battery) bring this new color scheme, in my opinion, it is distinctive and professional looking – it's not exactly elegant and refined as an Apple Sony, the Latitude favors deep grooves and visible, as opposed to an Apple smooth all look, but look at the works. And it's certainly an improvement compared to the former D610 look which was business boring and all too typical, with its gray and square in appearance.
Aesthetics industrial-looking statements are true to the actual construction of the laptop. The D620 is very robust, it uses an all magnesium alloy case. This results in strong overall physical protection of the laptop, regardless of case cracks appearing or problems with excessive flexing. The hinges are made of steel, Dell says they have been tested for up to 20,000 cycles (openings and closings) to assure freedom from loosening and floating. The D620 also requires a new barrel design to withstand vibration better than past Latitude notebooks. Another moving part on the D620 is the lock screen, this is also constructed of metal for durability and good looks to boot.
The most important thing to protect a laptop in most cases, the hard drive (where all your data is stored), the data is irreplaceable and sometimes valuable, while the hardware is not quite. As such Dell has implemented StrikeZone technology that reduces the amount of shock experienced in the hard drive during a drop situation. You can also get shock resistant hard drives of 60 GB and 80 GB capacities that offer physical protection to the data of others.
The D620 weighs about 5.6 pounds with 6 cell battery, optical drive installed and the power cord and an adapter. Given the fact this notebook is a magnesium alloy case and not too much plastic is used, the weight is pretty impressive. It is not the slightest thin and light, making an effort, and it is thicker than the ThinkPad T series notebooks for example, but it's enough comfortable to carry in a backpack say without feeling the weight too.
RELIABILITY: Straight out of Dell Leasing, you will surely be pleased with the quality and functionality of this laptop. This laptop was used in a business environment is very good condition. This article is professionally refurbished, but might show some signs of normal use and wear (minor cosmetics). It has been thoroughly tested and is 100% functional.
Scalability: The Latitude D620 has a modular bay and ideally located on the front that can hold an optical drive (CD / DVD / CD-RW / Combo / DVD-RW More details of which disc is included with this option) floppy drive, an extra battery or second hard drive.
Piece Of Mind: Buy a piece of mind. We offer a limited 30 day warranty on all laptops we sell.

Good battery life and an impressive enterprise features
Dell Latitude notebook business has been a mainstay of long-term Many business people on the go, offering a good balance between performance and Dell Latitude D620 battery. Dell has recently refreshed its Latitude D620 series and the new is in the middle of the range. Our review sample came with a processor Intel Core Duo T2500 2.0 GHz, Dell currently offers the T2600 (2.16 GHz) or T2400 (1.83 GHz) as an alternative. Backing this up is 1GB of memory PC2-5300, although once again Dell offers more choices. eher kurz gehalten test; online abrufbar
Keyboard and Touchpad
One of the most important parts of a laptop is of course the ease of entry, aka how easy it is to type and move the cursor on the screen. The D620 keyboard is full, it is nice and firm with no flex and overall a pleasure to use. As with keyboards Dell Typically, the key touch is lighter than say a ThinkPad – meaning you do not have to push a button just as difficult to write a hit, but it is a little easier to accidentally brush a key and register a keystroke. Depending on your typing style you may or may not like that, light touch typing quickly tend to like Dell keyboards though.
Screen
The D620 is offered with a WXGA (1280 x 800) or WXGA + (1440 x 900) display. The WXGA + will give you about 26% more screen real estate to. As mentioned earlier, Dell is the adoption of widescreen format with the thinking that allows users to view business easier document windows side by side. The widescreen format also offers a low profile on the whole, it's good for the spaces tight like an airplane, and actually means the notebooks footprint is about 2% less overall.
The D620 has that built light sensor built-in ambient control the brightness of the screen when the Dell laptop battery. For example, in a dark screen darkens as less brightness is required to view the screen, but in full light, the screen brightness crank making it easier to see. When the power of the screen will automatically become brighter. You can change the ambient light sensor for You control the brightness of course.
As far as screen quality, brightness is correct, but certainly not the best on the market and nearly as bright as some of the high-end screens for consumer notebooks. This is a screen mat so as not to get reflections of office lighting. There is some backlight leakage and lower the overall image is slightly washed out. Here are some pictures of the screen in the dark, the view of the light leakage from the bottom of the screen all black Windows XP.
Wireless
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and IrDA are all things that we saw in the past with the D610 of course, the addition of broadband communications to cell D620 is new and well received. Dell offers the option of configuring your D620 with an internal antenna for either EVDO or HSDPA, depending on where you live and cellular provider you have. My review unit D620 came configured with Dell Wireless 5700 EVDO modem. I like the fact that there are no ugly side antenna or bumps additional book where the antenna sticks WWAN like virtually all other portable equipment used (such as the ThinkPad T60 or Sony VAIO TX). Instead, Dell puts the antenna in the screen and the D620 has the same appearance as do or do not have the WWAN option.
EVDO via Verizon is a real treat, if you already have a Verizon Wireless account is $ 60 per month for unlimited data transfer, and if you do not then the cost is $ 80 per month. You also the option of paying $ 15 for 24 hours access to Verizon EVDO network. If you are a highly mobile EVDO can be a blessing and keep you from fretting about where you will find the next hotspot to send / receive emails or connect to your corporate intranet the field. As we know, when you do not need a Wi-Fi hotspot they are all around, but when you need a hotspot to access the net and help land a contract for the critical path goes cold.
Speaking of finding wireless hotspots, Dell has included a unique feature called "Wi-Fi Catcher" located on the left side of the laptop. You can use this switch to turn off all radios Wireless by putting it in the Off position, but far cooler than that, push it all the way forward and it will blink green as it searches for a Wi-Fi network and if it is present, it becomes solid green, if none is found it shows orange. This Wi-Fi Catcher works whether the laptop is on, off or in before. There is no need to start and search for wireless networks, just push this button to find out.
Battery
The D620 can be configured with a 4-cell, 6 cell or 9 cell Dell Latitude D620 battery. The location of the battery is rather odd relative to other notebooks in that it is at the front and not the back of the laptop. If you get an extended life 9-cell battery Dell D620, it will keep going forward a little and create a kind of lip that extends 0.9 ". I have the 6 cell battery type and it does not stick at all. With the Wi-Fi and a half screen brightness and make tasks such as web browsing and emailing I 2h 36m of battery life. It's okay but not great. There are certainly thin and light with better and I prefer to see 3 hours or a little more than a travel book thin and light. If you were to move to the 9-cell you would certainly exceed the 3 hours, but at the cost of overweight and increased cell size.
