The new petrol engines as reliable and long life of diesel engines?

gasoline engines are that much better? I'm talking about Diesel engines in cars and light trucks and vans. A car salesman tried to tell me that today. Maybe he was right — What do you think?

Diesels on average, will always take longer. Your average diesel will run to 400,000 miles or more without breaking a sweat, then a gas engine would last on average half as long. Again, these are averages, and there are two examples of more than 1 million miles without a rebuild. However, why the average being much higher on diesel because they turn down that regime the gas engine. Where you typically cruise at about 3000rpm on the highway at 70 mph with a gasoline engine, diesel runs through 1800rpm, because lines red to 4000, unlike 7000 for gas engines. Engine RPM and heat kills faster than the fuel itself … diesel and heating and turn less RPM.
